Why do I need to send in my Identification?

CoinSmart adheres to the Know Your Client (KYC) requirements to protect users against identity fraud, as outlined by regulations.

These obligations include authenticating the identity of every CoinSmart client. By requesting these documents, we ensure our clients and their accounts are protected by discouraging fraudulent accounts.  All documentation is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

The verification documents may include: 

• Identification document** (e.g. drivers license, passport, residence permit, or ID card) 
• Proof of address 
• Picture of yourself or "selfie" of you holding your identification document with a written note showing 'CoinSmart' and today's date

**Note, as part of regulatory requirements you will be required to update your ID document when the original document we have on file expires**
